Does Britney Spears want to reconcile with dad, Jamie Spears? Where does she stand with her mom? Breaking down the singer's relationships.
Rumors the singer wants to reconnect with her dad are false, says a source, but she's open to seeing mom Lynne Spears.
As Britney Spears navigates her third divorce, some reports claim the pop star is isolated in her home in Thousand Oaks, Calif. The "Gimme More" singer's estranged husband, Sam Asghari, was a fixture in her life during their six years together, but the two are not on speaking terms after they ended their 14-month marriage. So, does that mean she's really open to letting her dad, Jamie Spears, back in her life? Not exactly — but there is one family member she'd reconcile with.
Here's a breakdown of Britney's relationships.
Sam Asghari
Britney and Asghari are not in communication amid their divorce, a source tells Yahoo. They are letting their lawyers handle everything, which should go pretty seamlessly given the ironclad prenup he signed. They just sorted out custody of their dogs with purportedly no drama.
Jamie Spears
There's no one the singer has had a more tumultuous relationship with than her father, who held control over Britney's finances — and life — for more than a decade. At one point, Britney even told the court she wanted Jamie to go to jail for "conservatorship abuse." A TMZ report alleged she might be reevaluating things due to Jamie's health issues as she "doesn't want the regret of waiting too long." However, a source close to the situation tells Yahoo this is completely false.
Lynne Spears
Britney's relationship with her mom has been complicated in recent years. Although her anger at Lynne was evident throughout the conservatorship hearings, the two reunited in May. "My sweet mama showed up at my door step yesterday after 3 years … it's been such a long time … with family there's always things that need to be worked out … but time heals all wounds !!!," Britney shared on Instagram. Although it doesn't appear the two have seen each other since, Yahoo's source notes that Britney is open to seeing and reconciling with her mom.
Jamie Lynne Spears
Drama between the siblings peaked last year over the actress's memoir, Things I Should Have Said. (In the tell-all, Jamie Lynn claimed her sister exhibited "erratic" and "paranoid" behavior and once "locked them in a room with a knife.") Britney called her younger sister a "scum person" who made up "lies" to sell a "Hollywood book." The two are still estranged; however, the Sweet Magnolias actress seemingly made her stance on the divorce clear. She liked a post on Instagram announcing Spears and Asghari were separating after less than two years of marriage.
Bryan Spears
Overall, Britney's brother has relatively stayed out of the fold. He only publicly commented on her conservatorship once; however, was close to both sides. Perhaps that's why he was surprisingly not invited to her wedding in June 2022 — "go f*** yourself Bryan" she posted, and deleted, on Instagram last year — but things seem to be better. "He's been staying over and helping her alongside a therapist," an insider alleged to Page Six, calling his presence "a great thing for all of" the Spears family. TMZ also reported he's recently spent time with Britney at her home.
Cade Hudson
Britney's manager and close friend has been a staple in her life pre and post-conservatorship. TMZ claimed Hudson and the singer's lawyer, Mathew Rosengart, are helping care for her amid the divorce as they "assist" in getting her "fed, to appointments and manage any potential professional opportunities that may come her way." The singer seemingly responded as she posted a video that showed her making an omelette for herself.
Mathew Rosengart
Speaking of Spears's attorney, he is still an important figure in her life. Rosengart, who freed Spears from her conservatorship, attended her wedding to Asghari last year and is still representing the singer.
