Britney Spears-Led Crossroads Heading To Streaming for the First Time, Sets Release Date
For the first time ever, the Britney Spears-led coming-of-age dramedy Crossroads will be making its streaming debut. Set to take viewers on a trip back to 2002, Netflix announced that the film will be available to stream on February 15, the same day it was first released back in 2002.
The announcement comes a few months after the Tamra Davis-directed feature returned to theaters for a special global fan event. The film’s rerelease also coincided with the October 24 release of the singer’s memoir, The Woman in Me, in which she also spoke about her experiences filming Crossroads.
Crossroads marked Spears’ big screen debut, having starred alongside Zo? Saldana (Avatar) and Taryn Manning (Orange Is the New Black) as three best friends embarking on a road trip journey. The film also starred Anson Mount (Hell On Wheels), Justin Long (Barbarian), Dan Aykroyd (50 First Dates), and Kim Cattrall (Sex and the City).
The first movie to ever star the one and only Britney Spears has never been available on streaming… but that's about to change!

What is Crossroads about?
Crossroads revolved around three childhood friends, Lucy (Spears), Kit (Saldana), and Mimi (Manning), who had rekindled their friendship on a cross-country trip after spending eight years of their lives apart.
“With barely a plan, practically no money but plenty of dreams, the girls catch a lift with Mimi’s handsome friend Ben in his convertible. Along the way they not only gather experiences that will change their lives, but they also discover how important it is to hold onto their hearts’ desires,” the synopsis reads.
How did Crossroads perform back in 2002?
Written by Shonda Rhimes (Grey’s Anatomy), the film — despite its favorable box office earnings at the time of its release — was critically panned. It only received a 15% critic score at Rotten Tomatoes, with a 40% audience score against over 250,000 ratings as of this writing.
But while the film was not well received, some viewers (especially fans of the singer) came to appreciate the flick years after its initial release, with some praising its campy and feel-good elements. And over two decades after the film first graced cinemas, it may also receive a new generation of followers when it arrives on Netflix on February 15.
