Britney Spears Shared a Rare Note to Her Sons & It Hints at How She Feels About Their Relationship

Ever since Britney Spears’ 13-year conservatorship was finally terminated, the pop singer has been speaking her mind. She’s opened up about her complicated relationship with her family in her memoir The Woman in Me, and on her personal Instagram — where she just shared a rare note to her sons Sean Preston, 19, and Jayden James, 18. The “Toxic” singer’s message hints at how her relationship with her adult sons is like now.

On an Instagram post on Monday, Spears shared a series of throwback paparazzi photos of her and her sons. “This month is my boys’ birthdays !!!” Spears wrote. “Happy Birthday ?? babies and I hope you get all your wishes and more !!!”

Her kids were babies and toddlers in the photos, taken before Spears was forcibly put into the conservatorship by her father Jamie Spears in 2008. It’s clear that she’s feeling nostalgic about her (now grown up!) kids, and that she’s harboring no ill will toward her sons, despite her tumultuous relationship with them.

Back in 2022, Jayden said in an interview with filmmaker Daphne Barak that his mom didn’t give him and Sean Preston equal attention. “I think Mom has struggled giving us both attention and showing us equal love and I don’t think she showed enough to Preston and I feel really bad for that,” Jayden said. “We’ve both been through so much pressure in the past that this is our safe place now, to process all the emotional trauma we’ve been through to heal, heal our mental state.”

The teen also accused Spears of posting on Instagram “to get some attention,” adding, “This has gone on for years and years and years and there’s a high chance that this will never stop but I’m hoping for me that she will stop.”

Spears responded, writing on Instagram, “I tried my best at being the best person I can be … to be basically held hostage in homes under nurses and bullsh*t I hope my kids one day understand my reasoning of my play in water revealing myself as any woman would being held under blankets and supervision under the conservatorship !!! Finally at 40 without the restraints of what my family did to me … I say to my son Jayden that I send all the love in the world to you every day for the rest of my life !!!! My love for my children has no boundaries.”

Sources told Daily Mail last week that Spears is excited about the idea of “having her boys back” in her life now that they are both adults, and she is planning on giving her son Jayden a birthday gift that “is more expensive than anything his father could afford” now that her child support payments to ex Kevin Federline are reportedly coming to an end.

It seems like Spears has nothing but love for her sons, and it’s so sweet to see.
