See Broadway stars perform in NYC streets after blackout cancels shows

Parts of midtown Manhattan in New York City were hit with a power outage on Saturday evening, causing Times Square billboards to go dark, leaving people trapped in elevators and shutting down a Jennifer Lopez concert at Madison Square Garden.

However, it being a beautiful summer night in the city, cast members from many shows took to the streets to perform for audiences and passers-by.

The cast of Waitress, including “Brave” singer Sara Bareilles, took to the streets and of course people recorded it.

The Hamilton cast sang to audience members from the windows of the theater, in an “only in New York City” moment.

The cast of Hadestown also took the party outside, much to the delight of theater fans.

The cast of Come From Away didn’t want to be left out either, delivering some songs outside of their theater.

And the Millennial Choirs and Orchestras, whose Carnegie Hall performance was cancelled, also took their music to the street.

On a makeshift stage outside the hall, the choir raised their voices and entertained passers-by.
