Bruce Springsteen, film crew have a 'Nebraska' lunch at Talula's in Asbury Park

Now that's an Asbury Park power lunch.

Bruce Springsteen, director Scott Cooper and crew members of the upcoming “Deliver Me from Nowhere,” a film about the making of Bruce Springsteen's 1982 solo album “Nebraska,” dined Wednesday, Aug. 28 at Talula's pizza restaurant on Cookman Avenue in the city.

“We were a little star struck but we were definitely proud of our staff and we wanted to make sure he had a good time and we didn't bother him,” said D.J. Krajewski, bar manager.

The film will be based the book, “Deliver Me from Nowhere: The Making of Bruce Springsteen's Nebraska” by Warren Zanes. Jeremy Allen White, star of “The Bear,” will star as Springsteen.

Springsteen and the seven crew members dined family style at a communal table. They had the “Margie, New Yorker add Pepp, Hang on Lil Tomato, Beekeeper’s Lament, Green Goddess Chicken Salad Sammy, Vegan Kale Caesar, Bread & Butter, Blueberry Cobbler, Matcha Tres Peach Leches, aaaaaaaand Best Damn Pie Ever!” according to Talula's socials.

Springsteen took a pic with Talula's executive chef Mathew Carmona and owner Shanti Mignogna.

The 1982 “Nebraska” album is composed of demos Springsteen recorded on Teac 4-track recorder in a Colts Neck house. The original intent was to record and release the songs with the E Street Band, but the decision was made to leave them as they were. It has since become a classic and is largely credited with kicking-off the lo-fi indie rock movement.

Springsteen and the E Street Band play Sept. 15 at the Sea Hear Now festival on the city's North Beach. Noah Kahan, the Gaslight Anthem, the Trey Anastasio Band, the Black Crowes, Norah Jones, 311, the Revivalists, Kool & The Gang, the Hives and more will play over the fest's two days, Sept. 14 and 15.
