Bruce Springsteen has message to fans after postponed shows in Europe: 'We will be back'

They will be back.

On May 27, Bruce Springsteen delivered a video message from France stating that the band will return to the stage on Wednesday, June 12, at the Cívitas Metropolitano in Madrid after postponing four concerts in Europe due to the Boss' “vocal issues.”

“Hey, this is Bruce Springsteen,” he said. “I'm in Marseille. Unfortunately I could not sing for you but we will be back to Marseille, to Prague, and to Milan to give you the show of your life — that I promise you.”

Concerts May 25 in Marseille, France; May 28 in Prague; and June 1 and 3 in Milan were postponed with the consultation of doctors, according to a previous post. Springsteen did not expand on the nature of the vocal issues in his May 27 post.

Springsteen and the E Street Band last played May 22 at the Stadium of Light in Sunderland, England, in what reports call a chilly and rainy day.

Springsteen also sang “Thunder Road” when he received an Ivor Novello Award for songwriting May 23 in London. The BBC said his voice was “hoarse and squeaky.”

“We came out last night, and I was like, 'What is this weather? Driving rain, wind roaring,’ ” said Springsteen at the ceremony. “But standing in front of me, in the rain, I realized: These are my people.”

Springsteen also thanked attendees of the recent E Street Band concerts in the May 27 video post.

“In the meantime I'd like to thank our Irish fans, our British fans, our fans in Wales for giving us a series of shows that were deeply memorable and we just had great times, great times,” Springsteen said. “We're coming back to Madrid and Barcelona, Spain (on Thursday, June 20) where we plan to rock you into the ground. Alright, be seeing you soon — bye bye.”

New dates for the postponed shows will be announced shortly, according to Springsteen's social media. Those wishing a refund will be able to obtain it at their original point of purchase.
