Bruce Springsteen's 'Addicted to Romance' battles 'Barbie' songs for Golden Globe Award
It might be a Golden Globe moment for Bruce Springsteen, but he has to take on Barbie.
Bruce Springsteen's “Addicted to Romance,” from the movie “She Came to Me,” has been nominated in the Best Original Song - Motion Picture category, but the Boss faces three songs from the smash “Barbie” to win gold.
“Dance the Night” with music and lyrics by Mark Ronson, Andrew Wyatt, Dua Lipa and Caroline Ailin, and performed by Lipa; “I'm Just Ken” by Mark Ronson and Andrew Wyatt, performed by Ryan Gosling; and “What Was I Made For?” by Billie Eilish and Finneas O'Connell and performed by Eilish, are all nominated from “Barbie.”
“Peaches” from “The Super Mario Bros. Movie” by Jack Black, Aaron Horvath, Michael Jelenic, Eric Osmond and John Spiker, and “Road to Freedom” from “Rustin” by Lenny Kravitz are also nominated in the category.
The romantic comedy “She Came to Me,” co-starring Peter Dinklage, Marisa Tomei and Anne Hathaway, was released in early February. Rebecca Miller, daughter of Arthur Miller, is the director; Bryce Dessner of indie rockers The National composed the score.
Springsteen's “She Came to Me” has a gently alluring sawdust melody. Patti Scialfa, Springsteen's wife, sings harmony on the piano ballad, an ode to second-chance romances. The track is co-produced by Dessner and Ron Aniello.
Springsteen performed it live for the first time Nov. 6 at the Bob Woodruff Foundation fundraiser for vets at Lincoln Center's David Geffen Hall in New York City.
