Buffalo, we have a problem. Buffalo Bills’ Stefon Diggs is headed to the Houston Texans in a blockbuster trade. ESPN reports the matter went down on Wednesday (April 3), with the Bills swapping the 4-time Pro Bowler for draft compensation.

Buffalo will receive a 2025 second-round pick via the Minnesota Vikings as a part of the trade. Houston will receive the electric athlete, a 2024 sixth-round pick and a 2025 fifth-round pick. The trade arrives just a day after Stefon Diggs got into his usual antics on social media.

On Tuesday (April 2), a fan said Diggs’ field output wasn’t essential to Bills quarterback Josh Allen’s success. Stefon saw the comment and bluntly asked, “You sure?” While it is unknown whether the xweet factored into the trade, it does add finality to a saga that may have overstayed its welcome. Since joining the Bills, Stefon Diggs has had some drama attached to him.

One of the most notable moments arrived after the team’s January 2023 playoff loss to the Cincinnati Bengals. The loss was a blow as the WNY squad lost 27-10. Diggs blew up at Allen on the sideline as the game ended, seemingly screaming at his quarterback. The former Maryland athlete then stormed out of Highmark Stadium, refusing to speak to the media.

After the media asked him about the situation, Coach Sean McDermott sided with Diggs. He said he didn’t want someone on his team who “didn’t hurt” after a huge loss. “It hurts, and I wouldn’t want a guy who doesn’t hurt,” McDermott said.

Diggs later took to social media the following day to answer for his sideline outburst. He claimed that he was upset that they lost and the way they lost. “Want me to be okay with losing? Nah. Want me to be okay with our level of play when it’s not up to the standard? Nah. It’s easy to criticize my reaction more than the result,” he typed.

The tension trickled into the offseason that year. Diggs opted not to attend Buffalo’s June mandatory minicamp, and Coach McDermott expressed that he was “very concerned” about Stefon’s absence at the time. Allen then offered his opinion on what was happening with his teammate. He blamed himself, stating that he could do better to live up to his potential.

“There’s things that I could do better to help out with this process and try to get him back here and be the Buffalo Bill that he’s meant to be,” Allen said.

Fast-forward, and Diggs is gone. Along with Stefon Diggs, the Buffalo Bills lost wide receivers Gabe Davis, Deonte Harty, and Trent Sherfield—all of whom caught passes for the Bills last season, per ESPN. Buffalo has attempted to shore up its WR holes with the additions of Curtis Samuel and Mack Hollins. The Bills will need to address more of their issues in the NFL Draft because it’s looking like the AFC East squad got fleeced.

Meanwhile, the Texans have soared to the top of the AFC South with their off-season additions. Houston has added RB Joe Mixon, DE Denico Autry, LB Neville Hewitt, CB Myles Bryant, CB CJ Henderson, DE Derek Barnett and so much more. Adding Stefon Diggs just gave star rookie QB CJ Stroud the boost he needed.

This season is going to be interesting.
