Busan: KBS Backing Mega Budget ‘Prometheus’ Spy Series
Public broadcaster, Korean Broadcasting System is backing “Prometheus: War of Fire,” believed to be the most expensive TV show ever made in South Korea.
The spy action series is to cost $26.5 million (KRW30 billion) and will be shot in Korea and five international locations.
According to local media, the series plot involves a hunt for North Korean scientists who are carrying classified information on nuclear devices and missile systems. On their trail are a South Korean secret service agent and a North Korean defector.
Production is by JL Media, with Choi Ji-young (“IRIS”) as executive producer. JL is reported to be seeking a major international partner with streaming capacity for distribution outside Korea.
KBS previously financed and broadcast hit series “Descendants of the Sun,” which became an international hit.
