Buzz Aldrin gives rare update about life with wife Anca Faur
Buzz Aldrin is loving married life.
Aldrin, who in July 1969 embarked on the Apollo 11 mission with Neil Armstrong and Michael Collins, spoke to People to mark the 55th anniversary of the moon landing.
The former astronaut gave a glimpse into his personal life since he married his longtime girlfriend, Anca Faur, on his 93rd birthday in January 2023, telling the outlet he has “never been happier in my life than now with my time with Anca.”
“She is the love of my life, and we do everything together, from eating meals, planning projects and watching the world go by, to meeting with our two families and celebrating — as we are at this 55th anniversary of the Apollo 11 landing,” Aldrin, 94, added. “I am lucky beyond words.”
Looking back on the moon landing, Aldrin said he primarily feels grateful.
"Gratitude, I think, might be my strongest feeling, even now — gratitude for all those who made that incredible event in my life, our lives, the nation’s life happen. God looked out for us, for sure," he said.
Aldrin and Faur have been together for more than six years.
In an Instagram post from May, Faur, a chemical engineer, shared a selfie of the couple smiling for the camera. She reflected on their relationship in the caption and celebrated “six years of togetherness, love, and wonderful memories” with Aldrin.
On Jan. 20, 2023, Aldrin announced his nuptials with Faur in a post on social media.
At the time, he shared two photos of the couple donning their finest wedding attire, which included a black suit, white shirt and black bowtie for Aldrin. On her special day, Faur wore a beaded long-sleeved gown with white slingback heels.
In the post, he reflected on their wedding day, writing in part, “On my 93rd birthday & the day I will also be honored by Living Legends of Aviation I am pleased to announce that my longtime love Dr. Anca Faur & I have tied the knot.”
“We were joined in holy matrimony in a small private ceremony in Los Angeles & are as excited as eloping teenagers,” he added.
Aldrin was married three times before to Lois Driggs Cannon, Beverly Van Zile, and Joan Archer.
Though he hasn’t shared much about their marriage publicly, he celebrated his wife’s birthday on X back in May.
“Happy Birthday Anca, my beautiful wife!” he wrote. “Every day with you is a celebration. Yours forever, Buzz.”
