Caitlyn Jenner called out over 'insensitive' photo of her Malibu home after devastating wildfires
Caitlyn Jenner is feeling “#blessed” that her Malibu home is still standing, but many of her 9 million Instagram followers aren’t thrilled with how she shared the news. Despite reports claiming Jenner’s hilltop mansion had burned down, it appears damage was minimal.
On Sunday, the Olympic gold medalist posted an ocean-view photo from the patio of her secluded $3.5 million house, writing she’s “so lucky” her home made it.

People were quick to comment that it felt like she was rubbing it in on those less fortunate.
“Sucks for everyone who’s houses burnt down.. Sad.. BUT LOOK AT HOW BEAUTIFUL AND BLESSED MY HOME IS,” one person wrote. Another added, “Hope you are doing something to help your community.”
“Don’t rub it in,” one person commented. “You were lucky, many others weren’t.”
Gerard Butler and Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth were a few stars in the area who weren’t as lucky.
“This isn’t the time to brag that your house didn’t burn down,” another Instagram user wrote.
“I find it a bit insensitive to say blessed,” wrote someone else. “I don’t like the word anyway because it implies that one is more deserving [than] another to have nice things. She isn’t more deserving to have her home saved over others.”
“I’d be glad my house made it too if I had private firefighters working to save everything I owned. Beautiful view tho,” quipped one user.
While it’s unclear if Jenner actually had private firefighters on her property, some of her famous family members did. Kim Kardashian recently defended her and Kanye West’s decision to hire outside assistance to save their $60 million Hidden Hills home.
“I feel like we were really blessed to have the help of the firefighters that we did. Our house is right on the end of a big park, so the whole park had caught fire and so if our house went, then every other house would go,” the Keeping Up With the Kardashians star said on The Ellen DeGeneres Show.
“We were fortunate enough and blessed enough, and I know that not everyone has this luxury available to them, but we were able to get private firefighters — a company that you can hire that friends of mine that lost their home in a Santa Barbara fire, all their neighbors used this company,” she added.
“They saved our home and saved our neighborhood. I had them just make sure that they controlled every house on the edge, so it wasn’t just my home that I said, ‘Just take care of our home. Take care of everything because once they go, once ours starts, the whole neighborhood can go,’” she explained. “I don’t take that for granted, and that was such a blessing that we were able to do that.”
Kardashian, West, his Yeezy label and Adidas donated $200,000 to the California Fire Foundation and $200,000 to the California Community Foundation’s Wildfire Relief Fund.
