Calista Flockhart Is Ready for an 'Ally McBeal' Reboot
Calista Flockhart is fresh off starring in Feud: Capote vs. the Swans as Lee Radziwill, and she's already thinking about her next television project: A possible reboot of her hit show Ally McBeal.
"I would love to do some sort of reboot on some of Ally McBeal," Flockhart told Vanity Fair in a new interview "I had such a wonderful time at the Emmys, reuniting with my buddies, and dancing goofy with them. It just was so much fun. It was a highlight of my year. It was so much fun, and now we group text."
This past January, Flockhart was joined by her co-stars Greg Germann, Gil Bellows, and Peter MacNicol at the 2024 Emmys to present an award, and the four danced on stage together:
"I hadn’t seen them in a really long time, and it was like not one moment passed," Flockhart said. "We were right back where we started, making jokes, laughing, nobody else could understand our sense of humor. It was really fun. It was a joy." The original Ally McBeal aired for five seasons from 1997 to 2002, and earned Flockhart three Emmy nominations.
An Ally McBeal revival, or reboot, has been rumored for a few years now. In 2021, Deadline reported "ideas about a possible revival of the legal comedy-drama series, which became a pop culture phenomenon, are being bounced around,"and that Flockhart had been approached about reprising her titular role. And in 2022, the publication reported an Ally McBeal sequel was in the works at ABC.
This isn't the first time Flockhart has said she'd be open to returning to the world of Ally McBeal. "I would be game," she said earlier this year. "I'm always game."
