Calista Flockhart Reveals Candid First Thoughts After Meeting Future Husband, ‘Old Man’ Harrison Ford
Harrison Ford and Calista Flockhart
While Calista Flockhart and Harrison Ford have been happily married for almost 15 years, Flockhart's first impression of the actor wasn't exactly positive.
The Feud: Capote vs. The Swans star opened up about their first time meeting at the 2002 Golden Globes while talking with The Times, sharing how, at that point, she had never even seen Star Wars, so she wasn't too familiar with Ford. She recalled, "I was aware of who Harrison Ford was! But I didn’t think, 'Oh this is Indiana Jones.'"
When he approached her, she had a less-than-ideal reaction to Ford, telling the publication, "It was more along the lines of, 'This is some lascivious old man and what is he doing at our table?' I was being a smartass." In 2002, Ford was 59 years old while Flockhart was 37.
Despite the uneven first meeting, the two started dating and fell for each other, tying the knot in New Mexico in June 2010. These days, they seem to still be going strong, with the couple often spotted enjoying some PDA during personal trips and red-carpet appearances.
Back in 2020, Ford touched on the success of his long-lasting marriage in an interview with Parade ahead of their 10th wedding anniversary. He joked that the key was, "Don’t talk. Nod your head," and all would be good.
The two longtime actors are still working in the industry, with Flockhart celebrating the release of Feud: Capote vs. The Swans earlier this year. In the drama series, she portrayed socialite Lee Radziwill, starring alongside Naomi Watts as Babe Paley, Diane Lane as Slim Keith and Tom Hollander as Truman Capote, among others.
Meanwhile, Ford reprised one of his most iconic characters, Indiana Jones, for Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny in 2023, while he also gained acclaim for his recent roles in the shows Shrinking and 1923.
