Cameron Diaz and Benji Madden's baby girl Raddix shares a name with an EDM musician — and he's all about it
Raddix, the San Antonio, Tex.-based EDM musician, approves of Cameron Diaz and Benji Madden giving their newborn daughter the same name as him. He’s even shared stories about the couple’s moniker choice on social media.
The 25-year-old, whose real name is Josh Martin, tells Yahoo Entertainment that he himself chose the stage name because it was so different from anything he’d heard.
“I came up with the name back in 2012 on a google random word generator and I loved how it sounded. Ever since then I haven't seen anyone else with the name Raddix,” he said in a Facebook message. “So It was awesome to see that other people like the name so much that they’re now naming their children Raddix. It’s crazy to think that names change almost every generation and I’m happy that it will be a part of this next generations names.”
He added, “I’ve been a big fan of Benji and Cameron for the majority of my life so I’m thrilled that they chose such a Radd name. I also just wanted to give a huge congratulations to Cameron and Benji on this milestone!”
When Diaz and the rocker from Good Charlotte, with whom Raddix has never worked, announced the birth of their daughter, the actress hinted that the new parents would call their baby girl Rad for short.
“She has instantly captured our hearts and completed our family,” Diaz wrote on Friday.
The Vanilla Sky star explained that, out of concern for the baby’s privacy, they would’t be posting any photos or additional details, “other than the fact that she is really really cute!! Some would even say RAD:)”
The Maddens celebrated their fifth wedding anniversary on Jan. 5.
