Cameron Douglas Files for Joint Custody, Requests to Divide Responsibilities in Parenting Plan with Viviane Thibes
The father of two wants to split parenting responsibilities as evenly as possible with Viviane Thibes
Cameron Douglas wants to parent jointly with Viviane Thibes.
In response to Thibes' petition to establish a parental relationship for the pair's two kids — Ryder Thibes, 3, and daughter Lua Izzy, 6 — the actor, 45, proposes sharing custody and legal responsibilities, per documents obtained by PEOPLE.
Douglas' proposed parenting plan would see him and Thibes have joint physical and legal custody of Ryder and Lua, with visitation time allowed for both during their time with the other parent.
The schedule laid out has the two splitting times weekly, as well as alternating weekends and taking turns on holidays. The schedule requires the consent of the other parent for trips outside of the state of California.
The provisions stated the two would also have to consult one another in matters of schooling, health and wellness decisions, and child care. Neither Douglas nor Thibes would be permitted to use their children as messengers, speak disparagingly about the other parent to or around the children, or inhibit communication with the non-custodial parent at any time.

The filing comes after Thibes asked for primary legal and physical custody of their two kids in her document asking to establish paternity. Thibes' parenting plan allowed the children to visit Douglas. Additionally, she requested that Douglas pay all her legal fees.
On Sunday, May 12, Douglas shared a photo of Thibes and the kids, seemingly on a hike, in celebration of Mother's Day.
"Happy Mother's Day @vivianethibes ??," he captioned the shot.
In her own Instagram Mother's Day post, Thibes shared a message in both English and Portuguese on Instagram, along with a photo where her two little ones hug her, facing away from the camera.
"Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms in the world, specially the single mom because you are superheroes. I have a lot of respect for mothers," she wrote, adding, "The best part of being a mom is the love that we give and receive from our children. It’s a love so deep that is impossible to describe?????."
In May 2023, Douglas spoke with PEOPLE about how he navigates the relationships in his family as someone in recovery. When it comes to broaching these difficult subjects with his kids, Douglas said that he hopes to take on the topic by being open and honest.
"I'm certainly not going to try to hide anything from them. The idea is to be in a position that I'm feeling good about and making them feel good about. All that stuff is just in the past. Maybe some interesting stories for the campfire one day," he said.
Douglas spoke about being changed, both in life and recovery, by fatherhood.
When it comes to his own kids, "I can't help but be hyperaware of little traits that I see in my kids and maybe where they could end up going one way or another as they get older. I think it's helpful to have that perspective earlier on, so you can nudge them in a direction where they can utilize all their traits positively."
"My lifestyle is all about staying healthy and focused," the father of two noted. "There's nothing better than two beautiful children to keep you focused. And their mother, Viviane, is such a fantastic mother and so very helpful."
