Camryn Manheim Exits “Law & Order” After 3 Seasons: 'Something Wonderful Awaits Me'
Manheim has portrayed Lt. Kate Dixon since the NBC show's revival in 2022
Camryn Manheim’s time in Precinct 27 is coming to an end.
The actress, 63, will depart Law & Order after season 23, PEOPLE can confirm. Manheim joined the long-running police procedural as Lt. Kate Dixon at the top of its 2022 revival after an 11-year hiatus.
On Instagram, she confirmed her exit with a goodbye post in which she expressed gratitude for her “incredible experience” on the show.
“I’m so thankful for the three wonderful seasons that I spent with this wildly talented cast of merry pranksters,” she wrote, naming costars — both current and former — Anthony Anderson, Jeffrey Donovan, Tony Goldwyn, Mehcad Brooks, Reid Scott, Odelya Halevi, Connie Shi, Hugh Dancy and Sam Waterston.
The Emmy winner continued, “I loved showing up for work each and every day, loved keeping the boys in line at Precinct 27 and most importantly, loved spending time with the most hard working, professional and kindhearted crew. They are truly New York’s finest.”

In a statement provided to PEOPLE, Law & Order creator Dick Wolf thanked Manheim for her help relaunching the flagship. "I thank Camryn for her three wonderful seasons helping us relaunch Law & Order. She is a class act, and I wish her nothing but the best for her next chapter."
PEOPLE has reached out to NBC and Manheim for comment.
Manheim is the third actor to leave the revival, after Anderson exited prior to season 22 and Donovan left before season 23. The series, which first premiered in 1990, was rebooted for a 21st season in 2021 after more than a decade off air.

At the season 25 premiere of the show’s sister series Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Manheim spoke to PEOPLE about how she knew the role of Kate was perfect for her — with some encouragement from the showrunner.
“When they asked me if I'd come on the show, I'm like, 'What! What do you want from me? Why me?' And I remember the showrunner going, 'We just need someone who can boss around the detectives and they're going to be just a little bit scared,'" she recalled. "And I'm like, 'I can do that.' I've got a lot of experience, like I had a kid, and I boss everyone around.”
