Camryn Manheim leaving ‘Law & Order’ next week

Another one bites the dust at “Law & Order.”

Camryn Manheim, who has starred as Lieutenant Kate Dixon on the reboot of NBC’s flagship police drama since 2021, is exiting the show next week after three seasons. Her 48th and final episode as the character will air Thursday, May 16 during the season 23 finale.

The Emmy Award-winning actress, known for dramatic TV roles in “The Practice” and “Ghost Whisperer,” joined the “Law & Order” cast when creator Dick Wolf revived the procedural for its 21st season.

Manheim confirmed her exit with a goodbye post on Instagram, expressing gratitude for her “incredible experience” on the New York City-set show.

“I’m so thankful for the three wonderful seasons that I spent with this wildly talented cast of merry pranksters,” she wrote, name-checking past and present cast members including Anthony Anderson, Jeffrey Donovan, Tony Goldwyn, Mehcad Brooks, Hugh Dancy and Sam Waterston.

“I loved showing up for work each and every day, loved keeping the boys in line at Precinct 27 and most importantly, loved spending time with the most hard-working, professional and kindhearted crew,” she added. “They are truly New York’s finest.”

Wolf thanked Manheim for being an integral part of reviving the ripped-from-the-headlines series. In a statement, the uber-producer wrote: “I thank Camryn for her three wonderful seasons helping us relaunch ‘Law & Order.’ She is a class act, and I wish her nothing but the best for her next chapter.”

Manheim’s exit follows the departure of several other key cast members.

83-year-old Waterston, who starred as District Attorney Jack McCoy in more than 400 episodes spanning 30 years, was put out to pasture in February.

Meanwhile, Donovan did not return to season 23 last fall. The actor, who played Detective Frank Cosgrove for nearly two years, reportedly left due to “creative reasons.”
