CAPA names high school theater nominees for 2024 Marquee Awards
The Columbus Association for the Performing Arts (CAPA) recently announced the nominees for the 2024 CAPA Marquee Awards presented by American Electric Power Foundation.
Designed to recognize high-quality musical-theater talent in central Ohio, this yearlong program gives students at 22 participating high schools the chance to take part in professional theater education activities throughout the school year.
In addition to nominations for best musical production, best actor in a leading role, best actress in a leading role, best actor in a supporting role, best actress in a supporting role and best direction, there are categories for outstanding ensemble, outstanding dance execution, outstanding student designer, outstanding student orchestra and outstanding technical execution, backstage excellence and national student reporter.

Award winners are to be announced at a student showcase June 6 at the Ohio Theatre, 39 E. State St., featuring performances from nominees.

The students chosen as best actor in a leading role and best actress in a leading role are to be named official Jimmy Award nominees for “Jimmy’s Week,” a 10-day theater intensive in New York that culminates in a live performance on a Broadway stage.
The two students also are to compete on the national level for the 2024 Jimmy Awards for best performance by an actor and best performance by an actress.
