Capri Sun Bottle Design Change Might Launch: See It
No more stabbing your juice pouch with a tiny yellow, plastic straw — the ever-iconic Capri Sun juice pouches are getting a major makeover, and the internet has given mixed reviews about the news. Capri Sun is going to be releasing bottles of the delicious drink as opposed to the iconic yellow straws, and while it may be good news for some, the reminiscent among us aren’t as pleased.
The news was shared via an Instagram post from @Snackolator, which read, “Capri Sun is coming f
or the adults with new bottles that will be arriving in stores soon!”
But while the addition of a Capri Sun bottle would be convenient, fans of the nostalgic drink aren’t thrilled. Many shared their thoughts about the new product design, with most explaining why it won’t satisfy like it used to.
One user commented on the post, “simply won’t hit the same without the straw,” while another wrote, “I just want it to taste like when I was a kid in [the] 90s and 2000s.”
The new drinks will come in 12 oz. bottles, in the flavors of Fruit Punch, Strawberry Kiwi and Pacific Cooler.

A chronological history of the Capri Sun pouches
Although everyone remembers the juice pouches from the ‘90s and 2000s, the company was founded in 1931 by Rudolf Wild. In 1969, the original drink was born under the name Capri-Sonne, and it came in the same pouch everyone knows and loves. The product was originally sold in Germany, but only came in the flavors of orange and lemon.
By 1973, Dr. Hans-Peter Wild joined the family business, and the 10-pouch plastic carrier was la
unched. This was also the beginning of the name we know today, Capri Sun. The iconic pouch began to be released worldwide in the late 1970s and early 1980s, with the drink winning best new product launch in the U.S. in 1982.
Capri Sun became the market leader in the United States in 1994, two years after it did the same in Europe. This marked the rise of the product and is probably why you remember drinking these so often as a kid or young adult.
In 2007, Capri Sun launched a new product design, which was the re-closable pouch. If you didn’t want to finish your pouch in one sitting, this new design gave you the option to close it. This was also the year the flavors Orange Peach and Wild Berries were released. A new adult version of the drink became available in 2019 as Capri-Sun & Bubbles.
Capri Sun pouches vs. bottles
There is a lot of nostalgia tied to the Capri Sun pouches for many, as millions of people associate drinking from the tiny, yellow plastic straws with their childhood. Whether it was drinking them during a backyard party or packed in your lunch, Capri-Sun pouches hold memories for everyone.
The new bottle design may be an updated, more adult version of the tasty drink, but many people seem to prefer the original look. Some users have shared they are happy about this update, but the majority want the pouch. Just because we complained about stabbing the tiny straw into the drink, doesn’t mean we wanted something new.
