‘Captain Marvel’ Goes Higher, Further, Faster in New Super Bowl Trailer

Brie Larson has a message in “Captain Marvel’s” latest trailer: “Try and keep up.”

Marvel unveiled new footage of its upcoming superhero adventure during the Super Bowl. The clip didn’t reveal much, but it did give fans a glimpse of the action that will unfold as Larson’s Carol Danvers (a.k.a. Captain Marvel) attempts to save Earth from intergalactic conflict. Luckily, she has Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson), fellow Air Force pilot Maria Rambeau (Lashana Lynch), and Starforce commander Mar-Vell (Jude Law) to help her save the day.

“Captain Marvel” is the 21st installment in Marvel’s Cinematic Universe, and the studio’s first female-led superhero film. The latest entry in the MCU, directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck, is set in 1995 and centers on Air Force pilot Carol Danvers, who joins the elite military team known as Starforce after becoming Captain Marvel. The cast also includes Ben Mendelsohn, Gemma Chan, and Annette Bening.

“Captain Marvel” comes on the heels of “Avengers: Infinity War,” which ended with Earth’s Mightiest Heroes sending out an S.O.S. after Thanos destroys half the population of life in the galaxy. Post credits footage revealed Nick Fury calling out for Captain Marvel. “Infinity War” was a box office smash, grossing over $2 billion worldwide. Its highly anticipated sequel, “Avengers: Endgame,” arrives this summer.
