Cardi B Slams Conservative Columnist Who Questioned Her 'Twerk' Music Video: 'No Still Means No'
Cardi B is setting the record straight about her new “Twerk” music video.
The rapper — who dropped the unapologetically sexy video with City Girls last Wednesday — clapped back after a Twitter user suggested that her new song and video was sending the wrong message.
In the original tweet, Stephanie Hamill, a host and contributor for Fox 5 DC, questioned how “Twerk” empowered women amid the #MeToo era and encouraged liberals, including the 26-year-old rapper, to weigh in.
The all-women video features the rappers and back-up dancers grinding on each other — sometimes on poles — in their bathing suits and animal-print bodysuits.
“It says to women that I can wear and not wear whatever I want. do w.e I want and that NO still means NO,” Cardi explained in a tweet early Tuesday morning.
“So Stephanie chime in..If I twerk and be half naked does that mean I deserve to get raped and molested?” she continued. “I want to know what a conservative woman like you thinks.”
In a separate tweet, the “Bodak Yellow” rapper called for unification and clarified her recent messages.
“All these conservatives been harassing me and telling me the most disgusting things these past few days. Listen I’m not telling ya to turn liberal all I’m saying is to admit that your president is f—ing up this country right now! Liberal or conservative we ALL suffer as citizens,” she said.
Cardi hasn’t shied away from getting political on social media as of late.
Last week, she turned things up a notch when she stressed just how serious the current government shutdown is and slammed President Donald Trump over his controversial border wall.
“Now I know a lot of y’all don’t care because y’all don’t work for the government or y’all probably don’t even have a job but this s— is really f— serious, bro. This s— is crazy,” she explained in an Instagram video last Wednesday. “Our country is in a hell hole right now all for a f—ing wall and we really need to take this serious[ly].”
“I feel like we need to take some action. I don’t know what type of action, bitch, ’cause this is not what I do, but bitch I’m scared,” she finished. “This is crazy and I really feel bad for these people who need to go to f—ing work to not get motherf—ing paid.”
She wrote in the video caption, “I know a lot of ya do r watch the news so I’m letting ya know s— getting real …..I ain’t going to say nothing much tho I don’t want mofos to off me…..ANYWAYS TWERK VIDEO OUT NOW.”

In response to her expletive-filled Instagram rant, conservative FOX Nation host and commentator Tomi Lahren tweeted, “Looks like @iamcardib is the latest genius political mind to endorse the Democrats. HA! Keep it up, guys!”
A few days later, Cardi responded by telling Lahren: “Leave me alone or I will dog walk you.”
Lahren, 26, went on to insult Cardi’s intelligence, writing, “I’m sure you would. Still doesn’t make your political rambling any less moronic.”
But Cardi refused to let Lahren have the final word and wrote back in a fiery response: “You’re so blinded with racism that you don’t even realize the decisions the president you root for is destroying the country you claim to love so much. You are a perfect example on no matter how educated or smart you think you are you still a SHEEP!”
Shortly after the dispute, Cardi explained in an Instagram Live video that same evening that she was “so tired of people insulting me.”
“A lot of people think I’m dumb, think I’m ghetto because of the way I talk…but just because I’m that it doesn’t make me dumb and one thing I really want y’all to understand about me, I’m a very passionate person when it comes to history and when it comes to political things, and I always been like that,” the rapper shared.
“It just really gets me upset when people say, ‘Oh you doin’ this s—, you’re dumb, you shouldn’t be talking about this s—’… This is a passion that I have,” she continued, before explaining that in addition to taking AP history and government classes in high school, she has spent a lot of her free time researching world history.
“You can even ask Offset,” she added, referencing her ex, with whom she shares 6-month-old daughter Kulture Kiari.

The government closed on Dec. 22 in the wake of Trump’s call for funding for a proposed southern border wall.
Trump, 72, claimed he needed the wall to stem a “crisis” of drugs, violence and human trafficking. Congressional Democrats, empowered by the midterms, have rejected that — calling a wall immoral and ineffective and offering to negotiate about border security once the government is reopened.
On Saturday, day 29 of the shutdown, Trump suggested a compromise, proposing a new bill that would offer temporary protection for some undocumented immigrants in exchange for $5.7 billion in wall funding.
In a statement that was issued before Trump delivered his compromise on-air, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi rejected his proposal, calling it a “non-starter.”
It currently remains unclear how or when the shutdown will end.
