Pink's husband Carey Hart wears mask and gloves for cross-country flight amid coronavirus outbreak
Carey Hart is not letting the coronavirus keep him from the Daytona Supercross.
The California-based retired motocross racer and husband of Pink shared a look at his travel outfit — including protective mask and gloves with his shades and hat — as he waited to catch a flight to Florida. He also had some sharp words for the virus itself in the post, for which he used the hashtag “Daytona or bust.”
The mask is a valved disposable respirator from 3M and it’s typically used for sanding, sawing wood and grinding metal, according to the brand website. Not, ya know, surgery. While we suspect Hart had a box at home pre-outbreak, they’re selling for $50 for a box of 10 on Amazon. Of course, as we’ve heard over and over, masks, in general, won’t protect from the virus, experts say — though many are taking the “it can’t hurt” approach. Hart, who loves to call out commenters he disagrees with on his social media page, silenced one who wrote that he shouldn’t be wearing the carpentry mask because there is a “shortage of those masks” which are “needed by medical professionals.” He replied, “Shhhhh, it’s quiet time.”
Hart will be at Daytona Supercross on Saturday at the Dunlop race support truck, where he’ll be greeting fans. After his 2012 retirement, he became an ambassador for the brand’s motorcycle tires.
Sometimes Hart is accompanied to these types of events by his family — the singing superstar and their children, Willow and Jameson — including the Monster Energy Supercross in Anaheim in January. However, it doesn’t seem to be the case this time as new cases of the virus pop up all over the country after the initial global outbreak.
Willow and Jameson have both taken after their dad with their love of two wheels, which makes Hart — as well as motorcycle lover Pink — proud.
