Carol Kane Dishes on Hangouts with “Taxi” Costar Tony Danza — and on Which Castmate She 'Seduced' (Exclusive)
"We have kept each other's company in a close and loving way for all these years," Kane tells PEOPLE
The cast of Taxi is as close now as they were when the classic sitcom was on the air, according to Carol Kane.
The 72-year-old two-time Emmy winner and Academy Award nominee, whose new film Between the Temples hits theaters Aug. 23, attended a July performance of Taxi co-star Marilu Henner’s new off-Broadway show, The Journals of Adam and Eve, alongside Judd Hirsch and Tony Danza.
But, Kane tells PEOPLE, don’t call that a reunion.
“The fact is that we have kept each other's company in a close and loving way for all these years since Taxi,” she says.

Kane first guest starred on the show in 1980 as Simka, becoming a love interest for the late Andy Kaufman’s Latka Gravas. She went on to become a recurring cast member in Taxis’s fourth season and a main character in its fifth and final season alongside stars Hirsch, Henner, Danza, Jeff Conaway, Danny DeVito and Christopher Lloyd.
Four decades after the show ended its Emmy-winning run, members of the cast appeared on The View together last December, and have been photographed at New York City's Lincoln Center Theater and having lunch on Staten Island.
Kane says the cast even managed to stay in touch during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“During COVID, we were even luckier because Zoom became this thing so that no matter where we were in world, we could have and did have regular Zoom meetings,” she explains.
Danza previously told PEOPLE about the cast's Zoom sessions last year, and Kane says it was Henner, famed for her Highly Superior Autobiographical Memory (HSAM), who put most of those meetings together.
“She'd pick a date, save the date, get in touch with everybody, and we would all get together and do these Zooms, which were an indefinite amount of time,” Kane says. “And they were like visits. And that's going to continue.”
Of course, these days the cast can actually see each other in person again, as they did at Henner’s show, which was also written by Taxi co-creator and writer Ed. Weinberger.

“Tony lives very near to me, so we hang out a lot,” Kane says. “And for a while I seduced Chris Lloyd and his wife Lisa into getting an apartment in my very own building, so I got to see them all the time.”
Kane also notes that she and Hirsch both starred in 2022’s iMordecai, and that she remains “very close” with DeVito.
All five seasons of Taxi are now streaming on Paramount+, and Between the Temples arrives in theaters August 23.
