Cate Blanchett Means Business in Stella McCartney Suit With Statement Necklace for ‘Disclaimer’ Special Event During London Film Festival
Cate Blanchett suited up for a special event for her upcoming series “Disclaimer” at the London Film Festival on Thursday. The Oscar-winning actress stars in the Alfonso Cuarón-helmed series costarring Sacha Baron Cohen and Kevin Kline.
For the red carpet, Blanchett chose a look from Stella McCartney’s spring 2025 ready-to-wear collection, featuring a black suit with billowing high-waisted trousers and a single-breasted blazer.

Blanchett skipped a blouse and, instead of the peekaboo bra trend seen on red carpets throughout the year, opted for a standout accessory — a bold gold dove statement necklace with her all-black suit.
The “Disclaimer” star’s suited look debuted on the runway at Paris Fashion Week last September. Birds were a prominent motif in the collection, with chirping sounds playing over the soundtrack as high-profile guests arrived to the show.
The collection coincided with McCartney’s “It’s About F–king Time” environmental manifesto, a phrase originally from a tank top she wore in 1999 when her father, Sir Paul, was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. McCartney now uses this phrase for her environmentally conscious fashion endeavors.
“For me, it’s about f–king time that we stopped killing animals for fashion,” McCartney said backstage at the Paris showcase. “About one and a half billion birds are killed for fashion a year.…For some reason nobody likes cows, but birds? Everybody loves birds.”
Socha noted in his review of the collection that “not a single feather was plucked for McCartney’s collection. Instead there were doves printed on airy silk dresses, Prince crooning how they shouldn’t cry and puffball bomber jackets that truly resembled fluffy chicks. The designer explained they were made from recycled plastic bottles extruded into a cloud-like material.”
The 2024 London Film Festival kicked off on Oct. 9 and will conclude on Oct. 20. Steve McQueen’s “Blitz” held its world premiere on the opening night of the festival. Other films featured during the 2024 showcase include “Maria” starring Angelina Jolie, Sean Baker’s “Anora” and more.
