Cate Blanchett, Naomie Harris and Marisa Abela Reunite at Armani Privé Front Row
BACK TO BLACK: The Giorgio Armani Privé couture show proved to be a mini-reunion for the “Black Bag” cast with Cate Blanchett, Naomie Harris and Marisa Abela sitting front row.
The three star in the upcoming Steven Soderberg film. The shooting for this very secretive project finished just a week ago, Harris said.

“Cate has asked that we sit near her at dinner, so we’re going to have a lovely time,” Harris said of the trio reuniting at the post-show soirée.
She revealed the film is a spy thriller with “lots of unexpected twists and turns,” though Soderberg has kept much of the plot under wraps. “It will keep everyone on the edge of their seats, and I think it’s going to be a huge hit,” she added.
Harris had on a sparkly mint green suit for a bit of classic foundation, with a tube top to keep it modern.
The evening would also see Harris reunite with Giorgio Armani himself, who designed her Golden Globes dress in 2016 when she was nominated for “Moonlight.”
“I’ve been a huge fan ever since,” she said.
Blanchett and Eva Green made a shade brigade in the front row as the two kept their sunglasses on throughout the show.
“My sunglasses I’m showing off tonight,” Green joked, giving a little flip of the retro-style Armani specs. “I’m protecting myself from this crazy world. It’s cool — trying to be a bit rock ‘n’ roll tonight.”
The “Luminaries” star was in a vintage Armani dress that she had discovered on Pinterest. “I’m kind of a geek looking for images,” she said of digging deep into the internet archives. “I fell in love with it and Armani was very kind to let me have it tonight.”
“You need an armor, sometimes. I’m very shy so I kind of like having clothes that I feel comfortable with and I get to have fun with and feel strong on the day,” she said of her red carpet strategy. The self-professed “shy” actress is fresh off the Cannes Film Festival, which took a lot of planning for the many events.
“It’s very paradoxical. I don’t know, I need to see a therapist,” she joked of the contrast, then pulled out a very dramatic fan in the rapidly warming room of the Palais de Tokyo. She promised a new project coming up soon.
Jodie Turner-Smith was sipping Champagne and reveling the “sheer deliciousness” of her velvet pant suit and embroidered kimono-style robe.
“I want to have fun, and I like to look good. So why not?” she wondered, noting this evening was her first Armani show. “I’m here for a good time.”
Smith has just wrapped the “Tron: Ares” film with Jared Leto and Greta Lee. It’s a reboot of the iconic video game movie in which humans and A.I. interact.
As for reprising the costumes of the iconic “grid” of the video game world? “I don’t know if I can say [much], just they’re very … tight.”
Armani received a standing ovation after the show, which brought fellow designers including Simon Porte Jacquemus, Alexandre Vauthier and Alexandre Matiussi out in support.
