SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — The host of “Catfish: The TV Show” announced Saturday he is recovering after breaking his neck in a bicycle accident earlier this week.

In a series of photos and videos on Instagram, the reality show host shared he was hit by a truck while riding his bike to pick up his son from school on Monday.
“I never made it to pick up my son from school on the bike. In fact in some ways, I’m glad I didn’t. I was alone on impact. Me and the truck. And then I guess the pavement,” the post reads in part.
Though he shared few details about the actual crash, Schulman said he was hit by a truck and was going in and out of consciousness on the pavement. He did not divulge the location of the accident, just that he was treated at the Southampton Emergency Room and Stony Brook ICU.
Schulman said he is recovering from stable fractures to C5 and C6, and that initially there was some question about the mobility of his hands, but did confirm he is not paralyzed after the accident.

“I’m not paralyzed. My hands were a question mark there for a minute but the human body is incredible and so are HUMANS. The incredible knowledge and care from everyone in the medical community has been so remarkable… It’s hard to feel sorry for myself when I hear from the doctors about how many people with similar injuries will never walk again.”
He ended the post by reassuring his fans the doctors say he is expected to make a full recovery.
