CCMF fans wait hours to see Morgan Wallen’s headlining performance

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WBTW) — As Carolina Country Music Fest runs into its third day, tens of thousands of fans showed up hours before gates opened to get close for superstar Morgan Wallen’s Saturday night show.

Haven Shirley said she got in line at 5:45 p.m. on Friday night to see Wallen and Lee Brice perform.

She drove four hours with friends specifically for them.

“I’m excited to see ‘Lies, Lies, Lies’ and a bunch of others,” she said.

Wallen was set to headline last year’s CCMF but dropped out about a month before the event due to medical reasons.

Haven was not the only person to have waited hours to see Morgan Wallen.

One fan who was with her family, Cheryl Gillispie, said they had been waiting since 8:30 a.m. Saturday morning and wanted to make sure they beat the rush.

“We figured it was going to be a crowd so we’re trying to beat the crowd,” Gillespie said.

Fans made posters and there was even some dancing while waiting to get into the event.

Everyone was dressed for the neon cowboy theme and were ecstatic when they were finally able to head in.

Sunday is the last day of the the ninth annual Carolina Country Music Fest.
