Celebrities Post Touching Tributes to Barack Obama

Parting is such sweet sorrow — just ask all the celebrities who happen to be big fans of the 44th president of the United States. As Donald Trump became the official 45th leader of the free world, stars took to social media to say goodbye to Barack and Michelle Obama and pay tribute to the president they loved so much.

Khloé Kardashian shared a picture of Michelle Obama straightening her husband’s tie. “‘I’m asking you to believe. Not in my ability to bring about change — but in yours,'” she quoted in her caption. “Terribly sad to see you go but honored I was able to watch firsthand. I hope our history books will do you justice.”

Zoe Saldana echoed Khloé’s sentiments, thanking the former president and explaining, “You taught us that love is the only way to move forward.” She went on to add, “I learned so much from you and our First Lady Michelle Obama. I am honored I was able to witness your presidency, and I have been forever changed, educated, guided and inspired by you. Our children will know about you, we promise.”

Leonardo DiCaprio also got in on the action, sharing an image of Obama standing on a beach. “Thank you @BarackObama for the incredible work you’ve done to protect our planet during your presidency,” the Revenant star wrote. “I look forward to your continued work with the #ObamaFoundation.”

Beyoncé simply said, “Thank you.”

Miley Cyrus posted a warm message for Obama. “I love you so much!” she gushed.

Kim Kardashian and her family had the honor of meeting President Obama, and proudly shared several snaps on Instagram: “Thank you Mr. President. You will be missed!”

When Kim’s daughter North started to cry during a photo op, Obama gave her some White House M&M’s. “She smiled when I opened the box but I wanted to save them for memories so wouldn’t let her eat them so she cried again,” recalled the reality star.

Adele showed her gratitude with a photo of Obama and a peace sign emoji.

Zendaya shared a pic of Obama letting the cutest little boy ever rub his head. “My president is black…feels good to say. Thank you for all you’ve done and all you represent,” she wrote.

Olivia Wilde was also touched by the images of Barack Obama with children, sharing a shot of a boy looking up at the former POTUS. “This photo. This just finally did me in. My heart hurts,” she lamented.

Rihanna took a more tongue-in-cheek approaching, describing Obama leaving office as the “worst breakup ever,” and shared a vintage pic of the outgoing prez in a T-shirt with the “Supreme” logo Photoshopped onto it.

Gina Rodriguez shared a snap of the time she met the outgoing president. “Just the greatest. You are already missed President Obama. You are a man of honor and respect for all and we will keep that alive!” she exclaimed.

Salma Hayek also posted a pic of herself beside Obama: “you will be missed.”

Demi Lovato posted a glamour shot of the former first couple with the simple message, “Thank you.”

Meanwhile, Amanda Seyfried said she was “so grateful” for Obama.

Kelly Rowland posted a whopping 12 images to Instagram to pay tribute to Obama and captioned almost every shot with a heart emoji.

Even Arnold Schwarzenegger‘s oldest son with Maria Shriver posted a message honoring Obama. “8 years ago today. Such an awesome photo. So much respect for this man,” Patrick Shriver captioned a throwback of himself shaking Obama’s hand. “Thank you President Obama.”

Mandy Moore expressed her sadness that his term was coming to an end. “My heart is heavy today as saying goodbye is never easy. Mr. President, thank you for everything you are and have done on behalf of this country,” she wrote. “We will try to make you proud as we continue to fight for our future.”

Emmy Rossum echoed Moore’s sentiments with the simple “yes we can.”

Even R. Kelly got in on the tribute action, tweeting, “Job. Well. Done.”
