Celebrities react to Matt Lauer's firing amid sexual misconduct allegations
Sexual harassment scandals have been taking down industry tycoons for weeks in the wake of the Harvey Weinstein scandal and Matt Lauer is the latest big name to come up around the topic. NBC has fired the longtime Today show host following allegations of workplace misconduct.
Lauer’s co-host, Savannah Guthrie, announced the news on air and was visibly emotional.
“We just learned this moments ago, just this morning,” Guthrie said, her voice shaking. “As I’m sure you can imagine, we are devastated and we are still processing all of this… We are heartbroken. I’m heartbroken for Matt – he is my dear, dear friend and my partner, and he has been loved by many, many people here. And I’m heartbroken for the brave colleague who came forward to tell her story, and any other women who have their own stories to tell.”
CBS This Morning host Gayle King also commented on on-air. “I look at that picture and I have a sickening feeling of déjà vu,” she somberly said, referencing the Charlie Rose scandal. “Certainly because we’re dealing with our own situation here. It does send a message that you’re not too big to fall.”
Guthrie and King are hardly the only person reacting to Lauer’s firing. Celebrities, including alleged Weinstein victim Rose McGowan, Kathy Griffin, Chrissy Teigen and more have taken to social media to react to the news.
For those who never knew how bad the abuse of power has been there’s understandable shock & horror w every new story. But for those of us who’ve had to endure it & been punished or humiliated for speaking up, this day of reckoning is a blessing. Today we matter & I’m so grateful. https://t.co/1idYYRzpwC

It’s amazing to me that @nbc can fire Lauer, but Mark Schwahn – after over 40 women have come forward – is still on “suspension” over at @e_entertainment. We just waiting for the whole thing to blow over? New day, new headline? Fire the predator. #BurnItDownSis https://t.co/DOdcat8Go7

Matt Lauer has been on my list for a while. It’s really too bad more Americans don’t come to my shows. I pretty much recite the list in every show. Haha. I told you, my memory is long, my friends. I’ve been around a long time…

Naturally, a gleeful President Trump had something say as well, referencing NBC and MSNBC News chairman Andrew Lack.
Wow, Matt Lauer was just fired from NBC for “inappropriate sexual behavior in the workplace.” But when will the top executives at NBC & Comcast be fired for putting out so much Fake News. Check out Andy Lack’s past!

Many celebrities had something to say Trump commenting on the situation.
