MEMPHIS – Southwind wasn’t the only place to see quality golf on Thursday.

It also wasn’t the only tournament teeing it up for the kids of St. Jude.

Over at Spring Creek Ranch, it was the fifth annual Danny Thomas Celebrity-Am.  No PGA pros but many celebrities from sports and screen.

Penny Hardaway, Vince Carter, and the Grizzlies Pete Pranica and Luke Kennard were just some of the names taking part. Taking their swings for a charity near and dear to their hearts.

“When we go out on the road, a lot of times people say, what’s that pin on your shoulder? And we’ll say, look, this is St Jude. They go, Oh, St Jude. And then you feel free to tell the story, because what an amazing story it is,” said Grizzlies Play by Play voice Pete Pranica. “Danny Thomas said, No child should die in the dawn of life.”

“Now that I’m starting my own family, it’s just, it hits a little different,” Kennard said. “So it’s a great, great opportunity just to be involved in such a small part of what they do.”

Actor Kevin Rahm tries to never miss an event like this, especially in Memphis.

The why… is simple.

“I always love coming back to the hospital and reminding yourself of why we come and that’s to save these kids,” Rahm said. “That’s why we’re here.”
