Celebs like the Jonas Brothers and Busy Philipps are taking the FaceApp challenge, others call out
If you haven’t already noticed it dominating your Instagram and Facebook feeds, the latest social media fad is called the FaceApp challenge and celebs can’t resist.
The trend sees people applying the “old” filter from an app called FaceApp, often with hilarious and disturbing results. They then share the selfie, which is often a realistic transformations of the users face.
The most confident – or at least those that appear to have been treated kindly by the app – celebs have been sharing their AARP-era snaps on Instagram, and they range from adorable to hilarious.
The Jonas Brothers showed they’ll be aging like fine wine with an image captioned “When you take a trip to the Year 3000.”
Rapper Drake shared a very dapper image, and offering OVO-fest tickets to the user with the best caption, writing “Best caption wins ovo tickets.”
Singer Sam Smith, who recently came out as non-binary, shared a photo with a big heart earring asked “Grandpa or Grandma?”
Fast & the Furious co-stars Ludacris and Tyrese Gibson teamed up for a snap, with Luda writing, “...we still haven’t stopped at a gas station.”
Actor and talk show host Busy Philipps seemed content with her aged look, writing, “I mean...probs.”

Chart topping rapper Lil Nas X felt cute.
Lebron James says he’s earned his gray hair and wrinkles.
Funnyman and actor Kevin Hart is looking strong, and kind of like he’s shooting an insurance commercial.
Over on Twitter, people are joking about the app (and the endless posts of aged friends), but also posting the fine print from the FaceApp user agreement. Users are concerned that when using FaceApp you’re giving them a license to use your photos, your name, your username and your likeness for any purpose.

And, as another user points out – FaceApp doesn’t tell you what they plan on doing with your data.

It's fun.
It draws a lot of people in.
But, it also captures your face along with some of your private data.
It doesn't tell us what it does with that data.
