Ceres Announce Reunion, New Single And Tour
Ceres have officially reunited, with both new music and a run of headlining Australian shows announced. The band had been dormant since 2019, following the release and tour of their third studio album We Are A Team. Now, five years later, the band have shared a new single entitled ‘Want/Need’ and supporting dates for July – all of which will feature Suzi as opener.
“It’s a love song,” said lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist Tom Lanyon in a press statement regarding the new single. “I don’t need a single thing, if you don’t need a single thing. Feeling content. Singing songs. Filling lungs. Blocking out the haters. Us versus them. You and me. Wanting everything. Needing nothing.”
The band have also shared an accompanying music video for the song, which features the band recording the song together and tracking the choir vocals in a hall. Arlo Dean Cook directed the clip, which can be viewed below.
Ceres – ‘Want/Need’
Ceres last performed in December 2019 at Nighthawks in Melbourne, as part of their then-annual Christmas show. Earlier in the week, the band had wiped their Instagram grid and replaced it with a photo of them huddled in a semi-circle around a microphone. The caption simply read “1996–2022”, which was initially interpreted as a formal break-up post before it was pointed out that the band actually formed in 2012 and split in 2020. A teaser clip for ‘Want/Need’ followed the next day.
