Avril Lavigne and Chad Kroeger Hit the Red Carpet Together at the Juno Awards 7 Months After Separation
Even if Chad Kroeger and Nickelback don’t win rock album of the year at the Juno Awards on Sunday, the musician will walk away with at least one title: most amicable exes.
The singer was joined by Avril Lavigne on the red carpet for Canada’s version of the Grammys, despite the fact that the couple separated nearly seven months earlier.
“I came with Chad because Nickelback got nominated,” she said. “And I’m just here supporting him,” Lavigne told Canada’s eTalk on the red carpet. Meanwhile, Kroeger had his own reasons: “I got tired walking around with my band members, so I went and found hottie here,” he said, referring to Avril.
The former couple has remained close since announcing their plans to split, and regularly join each other in and out of the studio.
Teasing their appearance at the Juno Awards over the weekend, Lavigne also shared a photo with Kroeger exiting a plane for the annual ceremony.
Lavigne also shared a vintage video from 2003, when she won her first award at the ceremony, presented by – ironically – Kroeger and Nickelback.
Post-breakup, Kroeger and Lavigne have hit the red carpet before, and even joined up for a pre-Grammy party in February.
The couple was married for two years before calling it quits, and vowed to remain friends – which they clearly have.
