Chance the Rapper, Dionne Warwick share wholesome Twitter exchange: 'I am now Dionne the Singer'
Dionne Warwick has some questions, and Chance the Rapper is all too happy to answer them.
Warwick, who turns 80 next weekend, took to Twitter on Saturday with a burning question for the 27-year-old rapper: "If you are very obviously a rapper why did you put it in your stage name? I cannot stop thinking about this."
Chance the Rapper, whose real name is Chancelor Bennett, needed a moment before answering her question.
"Sorry I’m still freaking out that u know who I am. This is amazing!" he replied, before adding he would go by "whatever you wanna call me Ms Warwick.
"God bless you," he added.
As it turns out, Warwick is a big fan: "Holy," one of Justin Bieber's recent singles, features Chance the Rapper and is one of her "favorite songs right now," she shared. Warwick even proposed she and Chance collaborate on music, promising to message him about rapping together.
"Of course I know you," Warwick wrote. "You’re THE rapper."
Maybe their collaboration will arrive under a different name? Warwick later joked that she would now go by "Dionne the Singer" to properly clarify her profession. But she has some more names in need of explaining. Next up: Canadian R&B singer Abel Tesfaye, better known for his stage name, The Weeknd, who said he was "honored" that Warwick "roasted" him.
"It's not even spelled correctly," she tweeted at the singer. "If you have 'The' in your name i’m coming for you. I need answers today."
