Channing Tatum Accuses Jenna Dewan Of Employing A 'Delay Tactic' To Stall Their Financial Settlement
Channing Tatum has filed a response to his ex-wife Jenna Dewan's issues over "Magic Mike" money. According to the actor, he has extended many settlement offers to Dewan, but she is allegedly "dragging her feet" on the matter.
The former couple became embroiled in a legal dispute over finances following their decision to end their marriage in 2018. They were married for nine years and welcomed a daughter, Everly, 10, during their time together.
Channing Tatum Claims Jenna Dewan Is Employing A 'Delay Tactic' In Their Divorce Battle
According to court documents obtained by The Blast, Tatum is slamming Dewan's request for spousal support as a "delay tactic" to stall their financial settlement and wants a judge to hear the issues in their legal dispute in a single hearing.
Tatum also claims he has provided several settlement offers, but Dewan has turned them all down.
The court document reads, "[Tatum] has extended numerous settlement offers, participated in multiple mediations, and made attempts to directly address issues with [Dewan]."
It continues, "[Dewan's] request is nothing more than another attempt to kick the can down the road."
The issues still being debated include matters pertaining to child support, spousal support, and "Magic Mike" intellectual property.
Tatum requests that the court deny Dewan's request to "bifurcate" the case and allow the "December 2024 trial to proceed as a trial on all disputed issues to be resolved in a single proceeding."
The Ex-couple Are At Odds Over Their Financial Settlement
At the center of Tatum's dispute with his ex-wife is the financial settlement agreement for how their properties and assets will be shared, which includes the earnings from Tatum's multi-million dollar "Magic Mike" franchise.
According to a rep for Dewan, her client wants "a fair resolution of [the] community assets of the marriage, under California State Law," per People Magazine.
The rep also claimed that Dewan is keen "to reach a final determination and close this chapter on her life as soon as possible."
The legal battle between the duo has lasted since their split, littered with several settlement conferences where they failed to reach a resolution to their financial dispute.
Channing Tatum Is Not 'Happy About' Their Latest Court Drama
According to reports, Tatum is keen to resolve his legal disputes with his ex-wife, Dewan, as soon as possible.
The two recently had another court appearance to address their ongoing dispute, but apparently, Tatum is dissatisfied with how the proceedings unfolded.
"Channing's not happy about the latest court drama," a source told People. "He wants it to be over."
Part of the reason the actor wants to settle the legal dispute is to direct his time and energy to his kid, Every, whom he shares with Dewan.
Additionally, he wants to "focus" on his future with his fiancée, "High Fidelity" actress Zo? Kravitz.
"He loves his life with Zo?. They live a super private life," the source told the publication, adding that the duo are currently "planning a wedding."
The Actor Blames His Ex-wife For The Protracted Court Battle
Meanwhile, a source close to Tatum claimed that Dewan is the sole reason why the divorce battle has dragged on this long.
The insider alleged that it was due to Dewan's actions, adding that they "continuously contradict themselves."
The source added about Tatum's ex-wife, "She says she wants a fair settlement but is ignoring all post-separation work Channing and his partners have done to enhance Magic Mike. She keeps stalling negotiations but says she wants to resolve this."
The remarks seemed to be refuted later on by another source, who claimed that Dewan was not dragging on the case because she was "greedy."
All About Channing Tatum And His Ex-wife Court Battle
As part of Dewan's filing in court, she claimed that the "Magic Mike" franchise was "developed and co-financed by Channing during marriage with community effort and marital funds."
She added that the actor kept out of the loop about the opportunities from the franchise and "collected one hundred percent of the profits" after they had split.
However, Tatum countered her claims, writing in a motion that he "has expended extensive efforts" towards the franchise since the split. This, he claimed, gave rise "to his separate property interest."
