She’ll be taking a victory lap when the deluxe anniversary edition of her debut album, The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess drops on Friday. The September 20 release marks a year to the week of the album’s initial debut. The album is getting the exclusive treatment from Target and Urban Outfitters, which is releasing unique colorways. Pre-orders for the Target edition have sold out repeatedly, and they’re out of stock again, but there are a variety of other unique editions, including the deluxe reissue.
The deluxe reissues and retailer exclusives are set to ship on September 20 and can be pre-ordered now.
DELUXE EDITION
The Rise And Fall Of A Midwest Princess – Coral [Deluxe]
The deluxe reissue features a die-cut outer sleeve that frames the album cover, and the double LP is pressed on coral-colored vinyl. Plus, the album is pressed on heavy 180 gram vinyl, which is more durable and less prone to warping.
URBAN OUTFITTERS EXCLUSIVE
The Rise And Fall of a Midwest Princess – Green
$49.98
The Urban Outfitters-exclusive version is pressed on a “coke bottle clear glitter vinyl”, and the double LP is in a gatefold sleeve. Like the other reissues, this variant is set to ship by September 20.
TARGET EXCLUSIVE
The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess – Coral
$48.99
The Target-exclusive version features a multi-colored coral double LP and a poster. Pre-orders are sold out, but it’s likely to be restocked on September 20.
Chappell Roan toured with Olivia Rodrigo on her Guts Tour, opening for her through the winter and spring dates. The two reunited when Rodrigo brought Chappell Roan out to perform “Hot to Go!” They performed the track (and the dance) at the Intuit Dome in Los Angeles during Rodrigo’s penultimate show of the US leg of the Guts Tour in August.
Guts and The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess share a producer in Dan Nigro, who has also worked with Sky Ferreira, Conan Gray, and Caroline Polachek. Of their partnership, Chappell Roan said in a 2022 Rolling Stone interview, “I like it when people push me and tell me that my lyrics or the performance is not good enough. That’s not really the case for most co-writers out here that I’ve worked with. Until I met Dan.” Their first collaboration was 2018’s “Pink Pony Club,” which is featured on the full-length.
