Chappell Roan Offers Fierce Performance of “Good Luck, Babe” at 2024 MTV VMAs
Chappell Roan took to the MTV Video Music Awards stage Wednesday night to perform her hit song “Good Luck, Babe.”
After being introduced by Sasha Colby as “your favorite drag queen’s favorite artist,” the singer appeared in a medieval armor-inspired costume as a castle erupted in flames behind her.

Throughout the fierce performance, Roan didn’t hold back on her vocals as dancers dressed in medieval-inspired attire showed off their moves around her.

Roan was also nominated for two VMAs this year, including best new artist and MTV Push performance of the year for “Red Wine Supernova” in March.
Earlier in the night, while walking the red carpet in a medieval-inspired look, Roan clapped back at a photographer who seemingly told her to “Shut the fuck up” after she turned away from the camera. The singer quickly reacted, telling the photographer, “You shut the fuck up! Don’t! Not me, bitch!”
Roan skyrocketed to fame following the release of her debut album, 2023’s The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess. Not only have several of her songs made it on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, including “Good Luck, Babe!” peaking at No. 6, but the artist has also pulled massive crowds at music festivals throughout the country, despite not being a headliner.
“It exploded within a matter of four weeks,” she explained last month during a conversation with Saturday Night Live’s Bowen Yang for Interview magazine. “All of a sudden I had an album charting that came out in September [2023].”
Amid her rise in popularity, the “Hot To Go!” singer has also been outspoken about ongoing concerning behavior she’s experienced from fans, pleading for people to “stop touching me,” “stop being weird to my family and friends” and “stop assuming things about me.”
The 2024 VMAs, hosted by Megan Thee Stallion, were held at Long Island’s UBS Arena Wednesday night.
