The plan is for the film to play at festivals through the fall and winter and then to be released theatrically in 2025.

The deal was negotiated between Frank Jaffe from Altered Innocence and Hélène Espeisse from Charades. Producers are Les Films du Poisson, Wrong Men, & Faliro House.

Jaffe commented: “Having already distributed two of their short films, Alexis Langlois was already one of my favorite young directors working in France. Now having seen their debut I know the rest of North America will finally jump on board. Queens of Drama is glittery and wild, but also one of the most heartfelt queer love songs to pop divas I’ve ever seen”.

Langlois added: “Making this film, it was important for me to show a passionate, romantic and epic queer love story. Queer characters too, have the right to live bigger-than-life stories in cinema. The film depicts the difficulty that queer characters can have to love in a world that does not love queer people…
Behind and in front of the camera are queer people, they are what the film is about, they made the film. Everybody on the team gave a little piece of their soul making this film, and I think that shows on the screen. I hope this film makes your eyes, ears, and heart bleed.”
