Charlamagne Says Nicki Minaj Went “Too Far” By Mentioning Megan Thee Stallion’s Mother On “Big Foot”

Charlamagne Tha God has shared his reaction to Nicki Minaj’s diss record aimed at Megan Thee Stallion.

On Monday (Jan. 29), the radio host expressed that he felt Nicki Minaj crossed the line by mentioning Thee Stallion’s deceased mother on the song, titled “Big Foot.” “I know we say all is fair in love and rap battles, but man, hearing Nicki keep talking about Megan’s deceased mother, that ain’t it,” Charlamagne said during a broadcast of The Breakfast Club.

“I don’t see the need to bring in someone’s deceased mother. Like I said, I can’t say it’s not fair, I’m just speaking from a human perspective. On a human level, I don’t agree with that.”

Charlamagne and cohost DJ Envy discussed the ongoing back-and-forth between the two female rap stars, which heated up with the release of Megan Thee Stallion’s new single “HISS” on Friday (Jan. 26) and led to Nicki Minaj lashing out at the GRAMMY Award winner on social media.

Charlamagne noted that Minaj’s verbal jabs at Megan were “interesting” being that the Houston native didn’t mention Minaj or her husband by name on her own single “HISS.” Meg’s track includes a line thought to be a reference to Minaj’s husband, Kenneth Petty, being a registered sex offender.

“She said hit dogs will holler, and Nicki was hollering all weekend,” Charlamagne said before playing snippets from Minaj’s diss record. In the song, she accuses Megan of lying while “swearing” on her deceased mother, sleeping with her mother’s “man” after her death, and references the 2020 shooting incident in which she was wounded by rapper Tory Lanez.

“That ain’t it, Nicki, okay,” Chalamange said of “Big Foot,” deeming the record as underwhelming. “I don’t know who Nicki got around her, but there is no reason that should’ve left the studio. I’m glad Nicki finally decided to rap and not just tweet, but, no, that ain’t it.”

The South Carolina native contends that Nicki previewed many of the most scathing lyrics from “Big Foot” on social media, thus minimizing their impact. “Megan put out [the] ‘HISS’ song Thursday night at midnight and for the next 72 hours, all weekend, Nicki just has been talking about her on social media,” he continued.

“And a lot of the bars that may have made me been like, ‘Oh shoot,’ she already tweeted about. She tweeted the ‘Megan Law/Megan raw’ line on Twitter. Slick line, but once I heard it in the song, I already saw it on social media so it ain’t hit the same. The ‘Big Foot’ line on IG Live. It didn’t hit the same ’cause I heard it on IG Live,” he continued.

Charlamagne admits that his stance on Minaj’s verbal assault may have been different in past times, but maintains he believes the Queens native went “too far.” He added, “If you would’ve asked me this question 20 years ago, I would’ve probably been like, ‘Nah, all is fair in love and Hip-Hop.’ And I still kind’ve feel like that to a certain extent.”
