Charli XCX Reacts to Bowen Yang’s ‘SNL’ Brat Sketch: “Very Impressed”
Charli XCX is sharing her reaction to Bowen Yang’s recent impression of her during the Saturday Night Live season 50 premiere.
The British singer, who ignited the “Brat Summer” phenomenon with the release of her Brat album in June, told Howard Stern on his SiriusXM channel Wednesday that she was actually “very impressed” by the comedian’s performance.

“I love Bowen, and I honestly think he did a great job,” Charli XCX said. “I was very impressed with the hair texture, actually. I thought it was a really good wig. It was good. It was cool.”
When Stern asked her if she was at all annoyed by the SNL sketch, the “Apple” singer replied, “Oh, no, no, no. I think SNL is iconicm and Troye [Sivan] and I, we had an inkling it was coming, and so we were very excited about it.”
Charli XCX is currently on her co-headlining Sweat Tour with Sivan, who released his third studio album, Something to Give Each Other, last year.
The sketch featured Yang cosplaying the “360” singer for a fake talk show called The Talk Talk Show with Charli XCX. Sarah Sherman played Sivan. During the segment, which highlighted the album’s aesthetic of bright green, the Wicked actor attempted to explain what “Brat” means by describing things as “brat or nat.” For example, “Amy Adams in Nightbitch: brat,” but “Eric Adams indictment: nat.”
Charli XCX made her SNL debut as musical guest in 2014, and she later returned to perform in 2022.
Jean Smart hosted the season 50 premiere of NBC’s sketch comedy show with musical guest Jelly Roll.
