"This is the last thing I want because I love being on the road performing and meeting every one of you," Puth wrote in a note he shared to his 826,000 Twitter followers on Sunday. "You are the reason I can do what I love most for a living and I am so thankful."
"I have been extremely sick pushing through these dates and haven't taken the time my body needs to recover," Puth continued. "Resting and taking time off the road is the only way I can get better and start performing for you again."
Puth concluded with a heartfelt apology and a promise to "do whatever I can to make it up to you."

The news comes one night after the 24-year-old artist performed at CBS Radio's 4th Annual We Can Survive Concert, where the singer spoke with ET about recovering from a long bout of feeling under the weather.
"I got hit by a bus of flu, and I just got better the other day," Puth said, clearly speaking a bit too soon.
Earlier this month, Puth revealed that he had come down with a nasty case of the flu, causing him to lose his voice. He shared a photo of himself in his doctor's office, covered in blankets, which he captioned, "Damn."
