Charlie Puth Hit With Lawsuit Over Unpaid Custom Flooring For His Beverly Hills Mansion
Singer Charlie Puth has pretty expensive taste in floorboards!
The “Light Switch” singer hired Hermosa Terrazzo, a company based out of California, to create custom floors for his Beverly Hills mansion. However, the company claims that Puth refused to cough up the $150,000 dollars of work they did for Puth’s custom floors.
The Blast obtained the court documents filed in L.A. Superior Court, between Puth and Paul Rothenberg, trustee of the Washington Trust dated September 21, 2017, for breach of written contract and quantum meruit.
Charlie Puth Sued Over Expensive Floors
The documents were filed in Los Angeles County on Thursday, May 12, 2022. The company claims that they did work on Puth’s Beverly Hills mansion, referred to in the documents as the “Carla Ridge Property.” Paul Rothenberg is named in court records as the current owner of the property, which is located in L.A. county.
The company says that Puth used its services to obtain not only floorboards but “certain furnishings, finishes, cabinets, sinks, lights and bathroom fixtures.” Puth was also required to “pay for the labor associated with the installation of the foregoing,” which is typical in many construction contracts. The last invoice was dated April 7, 2022.
The lawsuit claims that Puth and Rothenberg both “expressly approved the select, acquisition and installation of the Fixtures and Furnishings, in order to make improvements to the Carla Ridge Property.” The company states that they “performed their obligations in full.”
The company claims that they made “numerous requests” to Puth to get him to pay for the improvements made to his Beverly Hills abode, but according to them, “each of them, have not made payment” for services rendered.
In the court documents, the company says that the total sum that they’re owed is $76,274.58. They also want to be reimbursed for attorney’s fees and the costs of filing a lawsuit because, as they claim in the court documents, Puth and Rothenberg “were likely to benefit” from the improvements made to the home.
Company Claims That Expensive Floors Were Worth $79,010
In another part of the suit, the company claims that they were specifically asked to install Terrazzo Floors at the request of Puth. He said that Puth “approved and accepted” the company’s “preparation and installation of the Terrazzo Floors at the Carla Ridge Property in order to make improvements to the Carla Ridge Property and promised to pay their reasonable value.”
They claim that the “fair and reasonable value of the Terrazzo Floors” that they installed in the property is worth $79,010 dollars. The company alleges in the lawsuit that not only have the defendants not reimbursed the company, but that they have “failed and refused, and continue to fail and refuse, to pay HT for the reasonable and customary value of the Terrazzo Floors as required by law.”
The company is now asking for compensatory damages in the sum of $79,010 dollars for the floors and $76,274.58 dollars for the lights, furnishings, and other fixtures. They are also asking that Puth cover their attorney’s fees, for “interest on the damages according to proof at the maximum legal rate” and “for costs of suit and for such other and further relief as the Court may deem.”
