Charlize Theron shares rare photos of kids Jackson, August: 'Happy #NationalDaughtersDay'
Charlize Theron is doing something she normally doesn't: sharing photos of her two children.
"The Old Guard" star, known for keeping her family out of the spotlight, took to Instagram on Friday to share an album of photos of her adopted children, Jackson, 8, and August, 4.
"My heart belongs to these two beautiful powerhouses," Theron captioned the image. "I will never be the same. Happy #NationalDaughtersDay"
In the first photo, Theron has her arms around her smiling children as they pose for the camera behind a cake with lit candles. In another photo, Jackson and August sip out of matching bowls.
During her appearance on "The Drew Barrymore Show" on Sept. 17, the actress spoke about her children and opened up about her personal life, revealing that she hasn't dated anyone in five years.
"I've been on a few dates, but I haven't dated anybody for over five years," Theron told Barrymore, who enthusiastically replied, "Me too!"
Theron said she isn't in a rush to get into a relationship, adding that she's fulfilled by being a mom to Jackson and August.
"I don't long for that much," she said. "I can honestly say this, on my life: I don't feel lonely."
According to Theron, becoming a mother has shifted her priorities.
"Once I had my children, it's not that it replaces something or that it makes you less interested in something else," she said. "I think your priorities are in a place that is of high demand, because it's a lot of work to be a parent. And then part of that is, at the end of the day, I get in bed, and I go, 'Oh my God, I wouldn't want this day to be anything different.'"
Theron also opened up about her childhood, noting that her difficult upbringing has made her strive for "calmness in the home environment."
"I think that's the other reason why I'm not so eager to jump into a relationship," she said. "I am so proud of the fact that my kids live in a home where they feel like they're safe, and they feel like they're never gonna have to walk on egg shells, and they're never gonna have to come down and worry about how their day is gonna go. I don't want any of that, because that's how I was raised, and it leaves marks on you for sure."
