Pre-sale tickets for most Mann Hall events are also available to the venue’s Email Club members one to three days before the general sale.
Cheap Trick has sold more than 20 million albums since its 1977 debut. Their Top 40 singles include “Don’t Be Cruel,” “I Want You To Want Me” and the No. 1 “The Flame.”
Cheap Trick singer Robin Zander has also performed several times in Southwest Florida as a solo act. The Tampa Bay resident has local friends, including AC/DC bassist Cliff Williams, and he often plays golf here.
Zander last chatted with The News-Press in 2016, shortly after being inducted with Cheap Trick in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The singer said he could hardly believe they made it into that esteemed rock institution.
“You gotta remember one thing: Cheap Trick’s a working band, and we never expected this,” he said. “You know, after five years of being eligible in 2001 or 2002 or whatever it is, those first five years go by and you think, ‘Well, God, we have a chance to get into the Hall of Fame! How about that?’
“And then 10 years goes by, and you think, ‘Is it EVER going to happen to us?’ And then 15 years goes by, and you think, ‘Well f--- those guys!’”
Zander laughed.
“And then it happens to you,” he said, “and all is forgiven. It’s like, ‘All right! We did get in!’”
