Check out these exclusive images from the bootleg 'Judge Dredd' miniseries

In the two years since the release of Dredd, the bloodsoaked dystopic action has developed a significant cult following, buoyed by the possibility/hope that the film might spawn a sequel that dives deeper into the mythology of 2000 AD, the British comic that spawned it. You want a sequel! We want a sequel! Karl Urban wants a sequel!

But until that happens, Dredd producer Adi Shankar has produced a new animated web series inspired by the beloved “Dark Judges” story arc. Titled “Superfiend,” the series is intended as a kind of sequel to Dredd, although it’s technically a part of Shankar’s “Bootleg Universe” series—a line of unofficial productions that also spawned “Dirty Laundry” and “Truth in Journalism,” riffs on the Punisher and Venom characters.

Below, you can check out some exclusive shots from “Superfiend,” including a look at a couple of iconic Dredd-verse characters.

And here’s the poster for the series, which will be released later this month:
