Cheryl Hines Might Be Considering an RFK Jr. Divorce but It's Not for the Reason You Think

Robert F. Kennedy seems to be ignoring any emotional affair allegations with New York Magazine journalist Olivia Nuzzi, but his wife, Cheryl Hines, might be making moves behind the scenes. The Curb Your Enthusiasm star is reportedly considering a divorce from her husband of 10 years, but it’s not for the reason you would expect.

The 59-year-old actress is reportedly more upset about RFK Jr.’s ties to Donald Trump than his supposed sexting scandal with a 31-year-old reporter. “The guy is a serial philanderer, and she knew that coming in,” a Page Six source alleged. “She knew she was getting in with a Kennedy who are known for being infamous womanizers, but she never signed up to be a member of Trump World!” It seems almost unbelievable that Hines might give her husband a pass for his rumored dalliance, but not his political choices.
Everyone in Hines’ inner circle seems to agree that a divorce filing is imminent — she’s already not wearing her wedding ring — but they seem to disagree on the reason. A Daily Mail source claimed she was “blindsided” by the Nuzzi news and wants out of the marriage for that reason. “She adored being a member of America’s royal family and having the famous Kennedy name attached to hers, but now she’s thoroughly embarrassed and furious about his adulterous actions and they believe she wants out,” the insider said.
Maybe Hines is just ready to end the marriage once and for all? It sounds like RFK Jr.’s endorsement of Donald Trump and the reported affair were a one-two punch for her. Jerry Oppenheimer, author of RFK Jr. and The Dark Side of the Dream, noted that a Kennedy confidant told him, “Any woman who gets involved with Bobby does so with her eyes open… Any woman who thinks they’re going to change Bobby is misguided and has to understand what she’s getting into with him.”
Hines has, unfortunately, been in this position before when weeks ahead of her 2014 wedding to RFK Jr. there were whispers of his fling with socialite Chelsea Chapman Kirwan. This time around, RFK Jr.’s carelessness is much more public because it involved Nuzzi, her ex-fiancé Ryan Lizza, and Hines amid a contentious presidential election with Donald Trump along for the ride. Let’s just say it’s messy, and Hines might be looking for an easy way to exit the scandal.
