Turner joins the series following Tracy Spiridakos’s exit as Detective Hailey Upton after 8 seasons in the Season 11 finale. Before that, Jesse Lee Soffer also said goodbye to the team as Jay Halstead and Hailey’s now ex-husband.
Fans have been asking for many seasons for a love interest for Atwater (LaRoyce Hawkins). Could Yara and Kevin hit it off romantically? We’ll have to wait and see.
Turner was most recently seen in the Netflix series Warrior Nun. Past TV credits include NBC’s New Amsterdam, Netflix’s Easy, Fox’s The Mick and Fox’s Empire. Additionally, she was seen in the indie feature Dead Women Walking which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival in 2018.
The British American Drama Academy at Oxford University alum also has stage credits including Raisin in the Sun at A Noise Within Theater (Los Angeles) as well as Blues for An Alabama Sky at Court Theater (Chicago). Turner is repped by Greene Talent, Anonymous Content and Goodman Genow Schenkman Smelkinson.
TVLine was first to report the casting.
