'Chicago PD' Fans Are in Tears After Tracy Spiridakos Reunites With Former Castmate in New Photos: 'So Nostalgic'

Chicago PD’s Season 11 finale episode—which aired May 22—was special for a few reasons.
Not only did it wrap up a pretty intense season that came on the heels of the SAG-AFTRA and writers’ strikes, but it also marked Tracy Spiridakos’ final episode ever, after she joined the NBC police procedural during Season 4 as Hailey Upton, making quite a mark on the series and its dedicated fandom.
Fans were also treated to yet another special moment during the episode titled “More,” when fan-favorite character Alvin Olinksy (Elias Koteas) appeared as a vision during Hank Voight’s (Jason Beghe) kidnapping, six years after his heartbreaking departure.
While Olinksy and Upton didn’t share the screen during his brief cameo—and were only co-stars for one season before he was killed off in Season 5—they had a touching reunion backstage, as evidenced by Spiridakos’ social media upload.
“I’m so glad Luce had a camera to capture our reunion. Love you so much!” she wrote alongside a series of photos that documented their joyful embrace.
Fans couldn’t help but gush over the special moment in the comments calling his cameo super “nostalgic.”
“SEEING HIM AGAIN MADE ME WANT TO CRY ?? “ one fan wrote on Instagram, as another added, “I’m glad he got to be there on your last day and it was good to see him on Chicago PD again I missed him.”
“Two of my favorites, always,” another ChiHard added, as many others agreed it was “truly bittersweet” and an “unexpected surprise.”
“So good to see you guys together for one last time ??” an emotional fan chimed in.
As for Olinky’s meaningful return—which seemingly provided Voight with some sense of closure— showrunner Gwen Sigan said it was all made possible thanks to Beghe, telling NBC Insider, "This was finally the perfect time to do it."
“Because [Voight] was in the most vulnerable place and it made sense to have this vision of him sort of telling him to keep going and to wake up... It came from Jason, and it came from this idea that we all loved and wanted to figure out, 'How can we fit it in?'" she explained.
Koteas’ brief time on set seemed to make an impact on everyone, as Beghe also admitted that sharing a scene together again was so intense that he cried between takes.
Chicago PD has already been renewed for a 12th season airing Wednesdays this fall on NBC in tandem with sisters shows Chicago Fire and Chicago Med, returning for their 13th and 10th seasons, respectively.
