Chris Brown Clarifies Misconceptions On ‘R&B Money’ Podcast’s 100th Episode

For the highly-anticipated 100th episode of Tank and J. Valentine’s R&B Money podcast, the men welcomed singer-actor Chris Brown to their studio.

VIBE has the exclusive on the long-awaited episode from iHeartPodcasts and the Black Effect Podcast Network, as Breezy opened up about the duality of being an artist and a businessman, as well as how many records are actually in his vault of music.

“I feel like the way I go to the gym is the way you go to the studio,” Tank teased, referring to his daily training sessions. He recalled going to Brown’s home, still in awe of watching him make several records in one sitting.

“You master something that you spend more than 100 hours on, so I try to overly master it,” Brown explained. “Me being in the studio, I might have an idea or I might hear some song and I’m like ‘I need to get on my game’ […] If you don’t sharpen the tool, it ain’t gonna work. Me being in the studio is where I live,” the father of three continued.

Tank gushed, “I’ve never seen anything like it.” Brown proudly revealed that he has roughly over 8,000 songs in the vault—most are incomplete. “It might be first verse, chorus, no second verse. Collectively, it’s that,” he noted.

The “Please Don’t Go” crooner and his “Up” comrade praised Brown’s work ethic, especially the “learning curve” he experienced from his first to second album. “It was scary to see. Like where is he gonna be on his third album? And now, it’s just records being broken,” Tank expressed.

Not only did the men discuss Brown’s origin and his musical archives, but they also laughed about his hilarious meet-and-greets. Valentine joked, “You changed the meet-and-greet.” Brown quipped, “That sh*t fun! I’m not doing 150 people a night […] but I’m not gonna make their moment [small]. For some of these girls, that’s on their bucket list.”

Tank hesitated when thinking about his own upcoming meet-and-greets on the R&B Money Tour and what he may encounter. “I may have to tell my wife to loosen up,” he teased.

However, Brown offered a word of advice: “You can’t do no motherf**king pictures with your shirt off. You can’t gauge what the person might do. They might lick your stomach and you gotta be like ‘hold on.'”

He later admitted that he’s so welcoming and “accessible” during those intimate moments because these are the people who held him down. “Jail probably humbled me. Being able to go through s**t […] once I was still able to do music and I got to be a regular n***a, man f**k all this extra s**t […] Whether I’m drunk or whatever it is, Ima take a picture with somebody because I’ve been humbled.”

The full episode will be available today (April 24). Watch the full preview above.
