Chris Evans praised for slamming 'absolutely unbelievable' Alabama abortion bill: 'Captain America for president'
Alyssa Milano isn’t the only celebrity speaking out against a new wave of legislation restricting abortion rights. After Alabama’s State Senate passed a bill banning nearly all abortions, including those necessitated by cases of rape or incest, actor Chris Evans took to Twitter to slam the “absolutely unbelievable” news. The Avengers: Endgame star, who has made no secret of his disdain for Donald Trump, also said these restrictions would put Roe v. Wade at risk and urged his fans to vote.
This is absolutely unbelievable. If you’re not worried about roe v wade, you’re not paying attention. This is why voting matters!! https://t.co/gZ5lrj7tQ1

The actor’s fans praised him for speaking up on behalf of abortion rights — though he also got called out for his recent meet-and-greet with Republican congressman Dan Crenshaw of Texas, who is anti-abortion.
i love an educated man that sticks up for women’s rights pic.twitter.com/zJPfNvtDlf

Yo Cap, you dealt with time travel. Any chance you can help get Alabama out of the 1800’s?

Thank you for using your voice and your platform for this. It's really important.

Captain America for President.

Even Captain America knows banning abortion is completely wrong. :(

And this is why Chris Pratt was clearly NOT the best Chris in Endgame.

Other stars shared Evans’s outrage. Actress Milla Jovovich reacted by sharing her “horrific” abortion experience, while the likes of Sarah Silverman, Jameela Jamil and Ava DuVernay slammed Alabama’s legislation on social media.
Don’t move forward after reading this like everything is normal. Don’t shake your head at Alabama and then keep going about your day. Realize that this is a warning. It’s Alabama and abortion today. It’s you and your rights tomorrow. Your silence will not save you. So speak up. https://t.co/kIz78uAU1T

Good grief. Women should have the same autonomy over our bodies that men do. If we don’t have autonomy we don’t have equal rights.
This is devolution https://t.co/GSPe5O4pLK— Sarah Silverman (@SarahKSilverman) May 15, 2019
If men got pregnant there would be walk in abortion clinics on every corner~ birth control would be sold in pharmacy dispensers, corporations would include pregnancy termination with their benefits, and every sizable company would have its own quality child care center.

Truly disgusting . https://t.co/C5uHWxHPZZ
